Welcome to ICON an international club for newcomers to Oslo, Norway. The purpose of the club is to promote international friendship as well as offer advice and support for living in Oslo and its surroundings. We also offer our membership a variety of organized activities and raise funds for local and international charities.

A little background about the Club
ICON was formerly called the PWC, originally founded by women whose partners were employed in the oil industry. Today, however, only 35% of our membership has ties to petroleum. Our name change reflects the diversity of our organization which now includes members whose partners are working for a variety of industries and embassies. ICON’s membership is made up of many nationalities – French, British,, Indian, Swedish, Norwegian, American, Brazilian, Singaporean, Dutch, Vietnamese, Danish, Irish, Australian, Finnish, Italian, Canadian ... and we welcome more!
Meetings
Each month between September and June, we hold a meeting to catch up with old friends and to greet new members over a cup of coffee (see Meetings). Meetings are held at 10:00 am at Høvik Church Hall. Our meetings take many forms: information about skiing in Norway, coping with culture shock, embassies sharing information about their countries and social lunches are just a few examples. There is something for everyone at an ICON meeting. We also have a monthly raffle at these meetings with proceeds donated to various designated charities. A range of activities are organized through the club, including skiing, golf, tennis, squash, walking, mah-jong and a book club. ICON also arranges trips to museums and other places of interest in and around Oslo (see Activities). Special events take place throughout the year, including a Christmas Lunch and a June Lunch. There is also a newsletter every month which can be accessed via the website. The newsletter contains details about meetings, activities, information about Norwegian traditions, useful websites and recipes etc. It can be daunting to turn up to your first meeting and not know anyone – so if you are a little hesitant about coming along to a meeting, please e-mail us beforehand (membership) and we will arrange for a member to meet you. We were all new once- we know what it is like to be in a new country and not know anyone. And we'd love to meet you!
