ICON provides newcomers and those already living in the Oslo area a place to meet, socialize and participate in organized activities.

Philanthropy

We raise funds for local and international charities which are chosen each year by our Board. Funds are raised at our meetings through raffles at meetings and at special events. 

Volunteering

ICON is a volunteer organization.  Many of our volunteers were professionals in their former lives who now donate their time to the club and its charitable causes. Our volunteers recognize that it is a great way to meet friends, to give back to the local community and keep their skills sharp while living abroad. ICON could not exist without the help and support from our dedicated volunteers and members. If you would like to get involved, please email us.

ICON Charities for

2011 - 2012

• Ecole Franco Arabe Mademba Primary School, Dakar, Senegal
• Watoto, Uganda - supporting orphans and vulnerable women in Uganda.
• Habitat for Humanity - helping students at the Oslo International School to raise funds for a trip to Zambia to build houses for local people.

A little background about our Club

ICON was formerly called PWC (Petroleum Womens' Club) originally founded by women whose partners were employed in the oil industry.  Today, however, only about a third of our membership have ties to petroleum and membership is open to both women and men.  Our name change in January 2010 reflects the diversity of our organization, which now includes members whose partners are working for a variety of businesses, industries and embassies here in Oslo.
