ICON Skiing Classes

It's nearly that time of year again - we've just got to wait until the snow arrives !!    ICON are once again offering discounted ski classes for the 2012 ski season with Skiglede Skiskole:  www.skiglede.no

Children's Downhill 

• Beginners
• Intermediates 

All children must wear ski helmets for skiing classes. This is compulsory.  Children should be at least age 5 (OIS school Year 1) to participate in the children’s group lessons. Children will be grouped together by age and then they will then be divided by skiing ability. The ski instructors have complete authority for placing children into different groups. This depends on the child’s ability to ski AND their understanding and ability to carry out instructions.

Adults' Downhill

 * Helmets are recommended but not compulsory for adult classes. *

Beginner

For complete beginners - if you have skied before (but only a little and a long time ago!) you may also wish to join this class.

Intermediate

This course is for those who were beginners last year or have skied a bit before. You will continue to work on your technique.

Advanced

This course is for those who have skied quite a bit and are confident with their parallel turns etc. They will be taught the techniques of ‘carving’ on their edges – going faster but with control !

Adults' Cross-Country

 * Evening cross-country skiing classes will need a headtorch. *

Beginner

This course is for complete beginners. If you have done downhill skiing before you may pick it up more quickly, though it is quite different.

Intermediate

This course is for those who were beginners last year or who have done a little XC before. The lessons will work on improving technique and will have short tours.

Touring

This course is for those who want longer tours. The first lesson will start at Sørkedalen to refresh your techniques. If a trip is likely to be longer, you will be notified beforehand. More details of starting points will be sent out nearer the time. This course is for those who want to ski and enjoy the countryside.

Fitness

For those who want a faster workout and learn racing techniques.

We hope to have social skiing Activity groups for both Downhill and Cross-Counrty skiing at various levels.  If any Member(s) would like to coordinate a Social Skiing group, please contact us.
